God keeps track of my actions, and apologies are cheap.

When I do wrong, I know I have to work to make it right.

Forgiveness has to be earned.

Your sense of justice is admirable.

When you owe a debt, you want to pay it.

But how do you know when you’ve done enough?

What if your debt keeps growing faster than you can pay it?

The sobering truth? It’s impossible to earn forgiveness from God.
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
Ephesians 2:8

It’s not on you

Yes, we should do our best to do good by following God’s Word.

But, since we live in an imperfect world, it's inevitable that we’ll make mistakes.

Even Scripture reminds us of how impossible it is to be perfect and live without sin.

It shows us just how much we need a Savior who can pay our debts.

So God, full of grace and mercy, gave us one.

God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:17

Confess and believe

We can never right all the wrongs we’ve done, but the good news is that Jesus’ sacrifice has completely paid the debt of those who believe in him.

God offers us his forgiveness as a gift, undeserved by us, but earned by Jesus.
